State Of Decay Live at Cardiff Barfly Sept 14th 2008
Drop Live at Tom's bar, Pontypridd, Feb 3rd:
Band Biography
Spiridion were formed in November 2005 when guitar duo James Davies (Rhythm Guitar / Lyrics) and Kevin Llewellin (Lead Guitar) moved from their native Pembrokeshire to Cardiff in order to start a band. Once there they were reunited with drummer Phil Smith, who had played with them in their previous project, Redeye. The line up was completed by bass player Rich Cogin and vocalist Ross Cocker, two friends of James who met while studying graphics in Newport.
The five piece began to rehearse and develop their sound, taking influence from bands such as System Of A Down and Tool, but blending progressive rock roots with touches of genres as diverse as rapcore and ska to create something truly original.
Taking their name from a clock in the Coal Exchange venue, Spiridion went on to play their first live performance in another of Cardiff’s prestigious venues, Clwb Ifor Bach, in April 2006. Numerous live dates followed around the Cardiff music scene, and the band began to develop a dedicated following.
Since Rich Cogin's departure in early 2007, bass player Gareth Owen has joined to form the Spiridion line up to date.
The band have just finished recording their debut EP My Only Answer, at Long Wave studio with producer Romesh Dodangoda (The Blackout, F.F.A.F, Bullet For My Valentine, Dopamine, Manic Street Preachers). The EP went on sale on the 7th December 2007.

"You can tell listening to Spiridion, that underneath all that thrashy guitar, shouty vocals, and hard rocking beats, that they just want to get their teeth into an S Club 7 cover – and make it loud like war. Tight playing, and an ear for a tune, made all distorted and hectic – in a good way." - subba-cultcha.com
